Collier PD Selected to Receive new Motorcycle

Collier Township Police Awarded for 9/11 Escort Participation
Collier Township, PA - Collier Township Police Department will be awarded a new Harley-Davidson Police motorcycle from America’s 911 Foundation, Inc. this coming Saturday, September 22nd at 2:00pm at the Collier Township Community Park. Since 2016, Collier’s motorcycle unit has participated in the America’s 911 Foundation annual commemorative ride; a Commemorative Motorcycle Ride to all three of the 9/11 crash sites in remembrance of those who served, protected, and  lost their lives and to the volunteers of September 11, 2001. The ride is fully police escorted by police departments from across the country
Each escorting officer is entered into a drawing and at the end of the ride, one of those officer’s entries is drawn. The winning officer is awarded a new Harley-Davidson Police motbikeorcycle for their department. This year’s winner was Collier Township’s own Officer Bill Oslick.
“We are excited to be able to add to our motorcycle fleet at no cost to our tax-payers, but that is not why we are eager to participate in this event every year,” Police Chief Craig Campbell said. “It’s about remembering and honoring those brave men and women that lost their lives, and supporting their families that still deal with such a great loss to this day.”
The motorcycle will be presented to Collier Township at the beginning of CollierFest, the Township’s annual fall festival. Collier Park is located at 5 Lobaugh St., Oakdale, PA 15071.
The Collier Township Police Department established a police motorcycle unit in 2015 after purchasing two used Harley-Davidson police motorcycles from the North Huntingdon Police Department. The cost of the motorcycles was funded by a donation from Jersey Mike’s Subs. Currently four Officers are trained to ride the motorcycles on patrol and for special events. The motorcycle unit participates in several charity events each year providing escorts for various organizations.
